Jaeger's Surface Tension Apparatus
Product Code : LSK-EAST-11178
Jaeger's Surface Tension Apparatus (SKU LSK-EAST-11178) measures surface tension by the bubble-pressure method: air is pushed slowly through a capillary tube dipped in the liquid and a manometer records the pressure needed to release each bubble. Mounted on a wooden stand, it serves B.Sc. and engineering physics practicals, especially on how surface tension varies with temperature. Science Lab Supplies assembles the set at its Saha, Ambala plant, Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, India, and supplies colleges, tender contractors and distributors from there.
Specifications
All listed components of Jaeger's set appear in the table. In summary, a manometer and capillary tube are mounted on a wooden stand, and a wide-mouth reagent bottle closed by a two-hole cork, with a dropping funnel in one hole, supplies the air pressure; the aspirator is not included.

Applications and Experiments for Jaeger's Surface Tension Apparatus
Jaeger's apparatus finds surface tension from the maximum pressure inside a bubble formed at the tip of a capillary, which makes it well suited to measuring a liquid at several temperatures. It is a standard B.Sc. and engineering physics practical in the properties-of-matter syllabus.
- B.Sc. physics: surface tension of water by Jaeger's method, with the liquid in a Borosilicate Beaker around the capillary tip.
- Variation of surface tension with temperature, warming the liquid and repeating the bubble-pressure reading.
- Fitting a fresh bore from the Capillary Tubes and making joints with Rubber Tube (Laboratory).
Water let in through the dropping funnel displaces air from the bottle, raising the pressure gently so bubbles form slowly enough for a clear manometer reading.
Standard Scope of Supply
Each set includes the manometer and capillary tube on the wooden stand, plus the wide-mouth reagent bottle with its two-hole cork and dropping funnel. The aspirator is not included; a beaker for the test liquid and a thermometer can be added to the quotation separately.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Whether you need one Jaeger's set or enough for a full undergraduate batch, ask for a quotation. Science Lab Supplies quotes packing, delivery time and price against the quantity you give, and spare capillaries or rubber tubing can be priced on the same quotation.
Having an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Ghana, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Reach the sales desk on the contact page, compile a list in the enquiry cart, or open the lab tender page to see how tenders are handled.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the aspirator included?
No. The set is supplied without an aspirator. It includes the manometer, capillary tube, wooden stand and the reagent bottle with a two-hole cork and dropping funnel used to build up the air pressure.
Why is Jaeger's method good for temperature studies?
Only the tip of the capillary has to sit in the liquid, so the liquid can be warmed in its vessel and the bubble pressure re-measured at each temperature without dismantling the set.
What does the manometer show?
It shows the excess air pressure in the system. The highest reading just before a bubble breaks away from the capillary tip is used, with the tip depth and bore, to calculate surface tension.
Is Science Lab Supplies the manufacturer or a trader?
Science Lab Supplies manufactures and assembles this set at its plant in Saha, Ambala, India. Because there is no trading layer, technical questions and quotations are both handled by the producer.
