Universal Testing Machine
Product Code : LSK-MTE-10501
Universal Testing Machine (SKU LSK-MTE-10501) is a hydraulic, four-column test frame for tensile and compression tests on materials, engineering parts and small structures, made for classroom demonstrations and safe use by small student groups. It suits strength-of-materials laboratories in engineering colleges, polytechnics and technical institutes. The frame, hydraulics and instruments are manufactured by Science Lab Supplies at Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha, Ambala, India, and the UTM is quoted from that plant to colleges, tender contractors and distributors.
Specifications
The UTM's full specification is laid out in the table below. In short, a four-column steel frame supports a hydraulic ram that pushes up a loading platform, with compression tests above the platform and tensile tests below it, while force sensors, a digital load meter and a displacement indicator give the readings.

Applications and Experiments for the Universal Testing Machine
Students load a specimen, read the force and platform movement, then use the part's dimensions to work out stress and strain. The supplied steel specimens let them compare as-drawn and normalised steel, and optional parts add hardness, spring and beam experiments to the same frame.
- B.E./B.Tech civil and mechanical: tensile test on steel and the stress-strain relationship, with specimen dimensions read on a dual-scale Caliper Vernier.
- Civil engineering materials: compression tests on wood, brick and mortar.
- With the optional Extensometer: Young's modulus of a tensile specimen, which can be compared with a wire result on the Young's Modulus Apparatus (Vernier Type).
- Diploma and TVET engineering modules on material properties and heat-treatment effects.
Standard Scope of Supply
The machine is supplied with its hydraulic ram, force sensors, digital load meter, digital displacement indicator and clear plastic guard, plus a set of steel tensile test specimens of different grades in as-drawn and normalised states. The Support Table and Cupboard, Extensometer and test parts are optional extras.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Ask for a quotation for one machine or several for a larger strength-of-materials lab. It gives the packing, delivery time and price for that quantity, and optional parts, the support table or other test and measurement instruments in India from this range can be added.
As a registered exporter holding an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Saudi Arabia, Oman, the Philippines, Nepal, Bangladesh and Zambia. If you are planning a UTM bench, outline the machine and its optional parts on the contact page or collect them in the enquiry cart; tender-driven purchases are covered on the lab tender page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can the Universal Testing Machine test?
Tensile tests below the loading platform and compression tests above it, on materials such as steel, wood, brick and mortar, as well as engineering parts and structures. Optional parts add Brinell hardness, coil spring, leaf spring and beam tests.
Are test specimens included?
Yes. A set of different grade steel tensile specimens comes with the machine, so students can compare steel in its as-drawn state with normalised steel in a tensile test.
Is the machine made by Science Lab Supplies?
Every UTM leaves the Saha, Ambala factory after the frame, hydraulic ram and readouts have been put together in-house, so buyers negotiate with the maker instead of a middleman.
How are students protected during a test?
A high-impact strength clear plastic guard protects the user while the ram applies load during tension and compression tests. All tests should still be run under staff supervision.
Related Test Parts and Testing Machines
Most of these parts fit this machine and turn it into a different experiment: shear, hardness, spring rate or beam bending. The other machines offer data capture, bench tensile tests and heavy compression, giving a complete strength-of-materials practical set from one supplier and one quotation.
- Double Shear — specimen holder and shear strap holder on the lower and upper ball joints.
- Brinell Indenter — dent read with a magnifier that carries a measurement scale.
- Coil Spring — vehicle-suspension design spring for actual against theoretical spring rate.
- Beam And Leaf Spring — adjustable knife-edge supports set the length of beam under test.
- Materials Laboratory With Data Capture — software graphs of force against elongation and stress against strain.
- Bench Top Tensile Testing Machine — strain-gauged load cell with peak hold, for loads up to 20 kN.
- Motorized Compression/Tension Machine — 280 mm span between the columns, 500 kN tensile and 2000 kN compression.
