Roughened Beds - Gravel
Product Code : LSK-FM-10444
Roughened Beds - Gravel (SKU LSK-FM-10444) are weighted gravel bed sections laid in a laboratory flume to simulate flow over a roughened channel bed. Two gravel grades let students compare how bed roughness affects depth, velocity and resistance to flow. They suit open channel hydraulics practicals for civil and agricultural engineering students. Science Lab Supplies manufactures both gravel grades as ready-to-lay bed lengths at Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha, Ambala, India, and colleges, contractors and distributors are quoted by the company itself.
Specifications
Sets, lengths and gravel grades of the roughened beds are listed one per row in the table. In short, the item is two sets of three weighted 1500 mm lengths of gravel flume bed, one set in small grade 2–5 mm gravel and the other in large grade 10 mm gravel, each length with removable handles for fitting and removal.

Applications and Experiments for the Roughened Gravel Beds
Laid along the flume floor, the gravel sections turn a smooth channel into a rough one. Students measure depth and flow over each grade and over the plain bed, then calculate roughness coefficients such as Manning's n and Chezy's C and compare them with published values.
- B.Tech / B.E. civil engineering: uniform flow and bed roughness in open channels.
- Manning and Chezy coefficients for 2–5 mm and 10 mm gravel, compared with pipe friction losses measured on the Fluid Friction Apparatus.
- Diploma irrigation courses: resistance to flow in natural and lined channels, set beside the optional roughened pipe of the Losses In Piping Systems apparatus.
Standard Scope of Supply
You receive two sets of three 1500 mm weighted gravel bed lengths, one set in 2–5 mm small grade gravel and one in 10 mm large grade gravel, with removable handles. The flume they are laid in is a separate item that can be discussed on the quotation.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Ask for one pair of bed sets or a larger quantity for several flumes; the quotation you get will cover packing, delivery time and price for that order. Other fluid mechanics lab experiments can be included in the same request.
Registered with an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies is able to ship to buyers in Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia, Peru, Egypt and Iraq. The business is registered under Udyam as a manufacturing enterprise (UDYAM-HR-01-0014546) and for GST (GSTIN 06ADEPJ0574F2ZU). Give your flume width and the number of bed sets on the contact page, or save the item in the enquiry cart; for public procurement, see the lab tender page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What gravel sizes are supplied?
Two grades: small grade gravel of 2–5 mm and large grade gravel of 10 mm, each in its own set of three 1500 mm weighted lengths.
How are the bed lengths fitted?
Each weighted length has removable handles to aid fitting into the flume and removal afterwards, so the bed can be changed between the two gravel grades and a plain channel floor.
Is Science Lab Supplies the manufacturer or a trader?
These weighted gravel beds are a Science Lab Supplies product made at its Saha, Ambala factory in India. Buyers therefore deal with the manufacturer, which quotes them without a dealer in between.
What total bed length does each set cover?
Each set has three 1500 mm lengths, giving 4500 mm (4.5 m) of roughened bed per grade when the three lengths are laid end to end in the flume.
Related Channel Bed and Catchment Models
