Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor
Product Code : LSK-TWL-10820
Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (SKU LSK-TWL-10820), or CSTR, is a chemical reaction engineering rig for studying a non-catalytic homogeneous second-order liquid-phase reaction at ambient conditions in a well-mixed, continuously fed vessel. It is built for B.Tech chemical engineering and diploma laboratories. Science Lab Supplies manufactures the rig at its factory at Plot 448, HSIIDC Industrial Area, Saha, Ambala, India, and supplies it directly to universities, tender contractors and distributors as one of the engineering lab equipment manufacturers in India.
Specifications
Two stainless steel feed tanks deliver the reactants, driven by compressed air, through individual rotameters with needle valves into a 2-litre stainless steel reactor with a motor-driven stirrer. The air line carries a pressure regulator, a Bourdon pressure gauge and a safety valve, and samples are drawn from the top outlet.

Applications and Experiments for the Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor
The CSTR is used to follow the progress of a suitable reaction and determine its rate constant. Because the vessel is well mixed, the exit stream has the same composition as the reactor contents, so samples from the outlet give the steady-state conversion at each flow rate.
- B.Tech/B.E. chemical engineering: chemical reaction engineering laboratory.
- Determining the rate constant of a second-order liquid-phase reaction from steady-state data.
- Studying how residence time, set by the rotameter flows, changes conversion.
- Diploma chemical engineering practicals on mixed flow reactors.
Reactant solutions may be corrosive, so they should be prepared and handled under supervision with suitable protective equipment.
Standard Scope of Supply
The rig includes the 2-litre reactor with stirrer and FHP motor, two 20-litre feed tanks, two rotameters with needle valves, the air-line regulator, gauge and safety valve, piping, control panel and electronic stopwatch. Not included: the compressed air supply, and the instruments, glassware and chemicals needed for analysis.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
You can request a quotation for one reactor or for a complete reaction engineering lab. It will list packing, delivery time and price for that quantity, and other reactors from the Training Workshop Labs range can be added to the same quotation.
As a registered exporter with an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Malaysia, Peru, Egypt, Iraq, Nigeria and Kenya. The business is registered under Udyam as a manufacturing enterprise (UDYAM-HR-01-0014546) and for GST (GSTIN 06ADEPJ0574F2ZU). Frequently Asked Questions
How is the feed pumped into the reactor?
The feed is moved by compressed air. The laboratory provides air at 1 HP, 2 CFM, and the regulator, gauge and safety valve on the rig control the air line.
How does this differ from the isothermal CSTR?
This model runs at ambient temperature with air-driven feed. The isothermal version places the reactor in a constant-temperature water bath to study the effect of temperature on the rate constant.
Is Science Lab Supplies the manufacturer or a trader?
Science Lab Supplies is the manufacturer. The reactor is built at its own factory in Saha, Ambala, India, and quotations come straight from the factory.
Are the chemicals for analysis supplied?
No. Instruments, glassware and chemicals for analysis depend on the reaction system your lab adopts and are arranged separately.
