Moisture Meter
Product Code : LSK-WWPT-10730
Moisture Meter (SKU LSK-WWPT-10730) is a handheld moisture tester for timber, with built-in wood calibration scales, automatic temperature correction and a large LCD. Carpentry and furniture trainees use it to check that wood is dry enough to machine, glue and finish, in ITI, polytechnic and TVET workshops and in timber seasoning practicals. Science Lab Supplies supplies it from Ambala, India to institutes, tender contractors and distributors.
Specifications
The meter is a durable, rugged handheld unit. Built-in calibration scales for wood and automatic temperature correction help readings stay consistent across timber types and workshop conditions, and all readings are shown on a large LCD. An optional hammer electrode allows sub-surface measurement.

Applications and Experiments for the Moisture Meter
The moisture meter shows how much water timber still holds, which decides whether it will shrink, warp or glue badly after machining. It fits ITI carpentry and furniture trades, TVET timber technology and joinery modules, and polytechnic or college practicals on wood seasoning and properties of timber.
- Checking incoming timber before it is planed and jointed.
- Following moisture loss during air or kiln seasoning.
- Comparing readings at the surface and, with the hammer electrode, below it.
- Teaching why glue joints and finishes fail on wet wood.
Take several readings along a board and away from the ends, and select the correct wood scale for the species being tested.
Standard Scope of Supply
The Moisture Meter is supplied as a single handheld unit as described above. The hammer electrode for sub-surface readings is optional and is listed separately on the quotation if you ask for it.
Packing, MOQ and Lead Time
Ask for a quotation for one meter or a set for a class, and it will state packing, delivery time and price for that quantity. The optional hammer electrode and other vocational training equipment for the wood shop can be added to the same quotation.
As a registered exporter with an Importer-Exporter Code, Science Lab Supplies can ship to buyers in Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia, Peru, Egypt and Iraq. Use the contact page or enquiry cart to enquire, or visit the lab tender page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the hammer electrode for?
The optional hammer electrode is driven into the timber so the meter can read moisture below the surface, which is useful for thick sections where the outside dries faster than the core.
Why does temperature correction matter?
Wood readings change with temperature. Automatic correction adjusts the result, so trainees get comparable readings in a cool store and a warm workshop.
Who supplies the Moisture Meter?
Science Lab Supplies supplies it from Ambala, India, to ITIs, polytechnics, TVET centres, tender contractors and distributors, together with wood workshop machines.
Can it be used on different wood species?
Yes. The built-in wood calibration scales let the user pick the setting that suits the timber being tested.
Related Timber Preparation Equipment
Moisture checks come before drying, planing and gluing. These four items follow the meter in a training workshop: one dries timber, two prepare it to size once it is dry, and one applies glue that bonds properly only to seasoned wood. They can be quoted together.
- Kiln Drying Oven — drying timber to a target moisture level.
- Combination Surface Planer and Thicknesser — planing dry timber to size.
- Jointer Planer — flattening faces and edges.
- Glue Spreader Roll — adhesive application for laminating.
